Poongar is a traditional, aromatic rice variety from Tamil Nadu, known in traditional kitchens for being light on the stomach and easy to digest. This single-polished batch retains more of its natural bran than fully polished rice, giving it a subtle nutty flavour. It is a good everyday choice for plain steamed rice, kanji, or curd rice, sourced from native paddy farms.
