Our Story
We Are What We Eat
We are a farm-to-home, eco-friendly store started with love and responsibility for people and the biodiversity of our environment. The widespread use of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides has made us realize the importance of organic farming — land degradation, water contamination, air pollution, climate change, and the health issues linked to the food we consume.
The phrase "we are what we eat" inspired the formation of team Seeragam. We recognised the need to create a sustainable connection between natural farmers and everyday consumers, bridging the gap for healthier, more conscious living.
Today we're a community of farmers, well-wishers, and 3000+ families who trust us and care about health and chemical-free food.
How We Started
Our Journey
With inspiration from stalwarts in natural farming — Masanobu Fukuoka (Japan) and Nammalvar Ayya (Tamil Nadu, India) — we set a strong value and commitment towards the path of safe food.
In 2015, we started working with organic farmers who were finding it hard to sell their produce, connecting them to a market through organic stores across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. But we soon realised we needed to connect to consumers directly too.
Seeragam was conceived on 17th August 2018 as a farm-to-home store, with a clear vision and a set of core values we vowed to uphold from day one — values that have been instrumental in our growth and recognition as a store known for trust, authenticity, and sustainability.
Seeragam works to provide unadulterated, traditional, local food — grown by natural farmers across the country, the way our ancestors grew and ate it.

Core Values And Commitments
-
Authentic & Chemical-Free
Our top priority is providing people with authentic, chemical-free products. To guarantee this, we personally visit our farmers — understanding their concerns or issues and standing with them.
-
Sustainable, Plastic-Free
We strive to uphold our traditional culture of sustainable living by avoiding single-use plastic within our stores. The 3 R's — Reduce, Recycle, Reuse — is one of our most important values.
-
Transparency
We prioritize transparency and open communication, even when it means explaining why a product is unavailable.
-
Farmer Collaboration
We actively collaborate with our organic farmers, analysing climate and natural season cycles together.
-
Customer Education
We believe in empowering our customers with knowledge. We take pride in educating them about our products.
-
Self-Reliant, Handmade
We prioritize self-reliance and do not sell branded or packaged food products. Instead, we manufacture all varieties ourselves.
The Name 'Seeragam'
The Tamil meaning of சீரகம் = சீர் (balance / harmony) + அகம் (body) — "balances the body in harmony."
We strive to bring only products that could bring balance and harmony to our customers. Despite the many spices in Indian cuisine, Seeragam (cumin seeds) is considered one of the most prominent — without it, the spice box is never complete. We've inculcated similar values into our store and our policies too. The name also creates a natural curiosity amongst people who hear it as a brand.
Our Vision
To see a society where people are more aware of the traditional values of food and the part it plays in the health of one's life — and to enable the farmers striving to make this vision come true.
Our Mission
-
Farm-to-Home
Connecting farmers and consumers directly, to provide chemical-free products in environment-friendly packaging.
-
Native Seeds, Not GMO
A dedication to preserving native seeds and local food that cherishes the wellness of both individuals and the life around us — and standing against genetically modified (GMO) seeds.
-
Awareness & Fair Trade
Creating awareness on holistic wellness, traditional cooking methods, and 'fair-trade' ethics.
Why Seeragam?
The first plastic-free conceptual store
We shall happily claim that Seeragam is the first conceptual store which does not use single-use plastic packaging material. We use cloth bags, paper covers, and biodegradable pouches & boxes.
Bring your own container or bag
We encourage people to bring their own containers or bags to purchase products, reducing the waste that ends up in landfills.
Direct from natural farmers
Every product in our store is sourced directly from natural farmers, and all value-added products are made by our own team in our own setup. There are no traders or dealers in between, which ensures fair pricing for both farmers and customers.
Awareness sessions & workshops
We reach out for awareness sessions on holistic wellness, sustainability, and food — through workshops and training, both online and offline, in schools, colleges, corporates, and other communities and associations.
