Karuppu kavuni, or black rice, is an heirloom variety once reserved for royal kitchens, known for its deep colour and nutty flavour. Left largely unpolished and minimally processed, it retains its natural bran layer and distinctive aroma when cooked. Enjoy it as a wholesome porridge, kheer, or simply steamed alongside your everyday meal.
